Skiing!
Skiing must be one of my favourite things. I started late (1991) but have tried to go every year since then and only missed out twice. I mostly go with a bunch of friends, most of whom I've known for years. Sometimes others, friends of friends, come along for a year or two, but the core group remains pretty much the same.

When I started I was sure I'd never get down a black slope. I felt unsure even on the flattest blue slopes. By now, I'm proud to say, I manage to get down most of the black slopes without serious trouble. However, I still hate the mogul covered black.

We prefer to ski in Italy. The food is great, the runs are well prepared and the people are friendly. None of us wants to go to Austria—too many Dutch tourists. Switzerland is too expensive and one of us has been veto-ing France ever since we went there in 1994. Why? I guess he doesn't like the French.

What Slope?
Oh, for those of you that don't ski, some quick explanations. In Europe slopes are graded from blue, red and black, except in France where they seem to be graded green, blue, red and black.
In general the blues (and greens) are wide and 'flat', the reds either wide and steep or flat and narrow, the blacks are both steep and narrow. We noticed that in France they tend to take the average slope in to account so you might get some fairly steep bits in a blue run.

The following pages contain some information on the various ski resorts I've visited in these past eight years.

  go to Livigno Livigno
Valtellina, Northwest Italy (1996 and 1998)
  go to Tignes Tignes
    French Alps (1994)
  Colle Isarco
    South Tyrolia, Italy (1993)
  Selva/Wolkenstein
    Dolomiti, Italy (1992)
  Monte Bondone
    North of Trento, Italy (1991)

Yes, there are only five resorts noted here. We visited Livigno twice, I was out of a job in 1994 and spent to much money in my summer holiday in 1996.

Note
The pages will contain some kind of location map, maybe even some resort maps if I can get them scanned. I'll also be adding pictures as soon as I can get them (again the problem of having mainly slides)
