| This
site
contains a number of things amongst which the poetry and the
travelogues are the most prominent. The material has been created in
the past 30 or so years.
Most
of the information in
this site is presented in English. I am to lazy to create a fully
bilingual site, so, if you don't like it: GO AWAY! If you do like the
site (or don't and feel like complaining) you can drop me an email.

Hetty and I visited Paris for a long weekend. The tow of us had a great time wandering around the city, enjoying the scenery, the food, the culture and the drinks. We also ended up shooting lots of piccies
...
Here are a whole lot of pictures taken while visiting the Keukenhof with friends...
This links to the long promised pictures of our US holiday. We visited the Delmarva region and Idaho...
The India
slides, some
five score of them, are still online...
I translated a small section of the travelogue into English, which can
be found here...
More
photo albums can be
found here...
I managed to
find a little
time to scan some of the watercolours and ink drawings I made and put
them online. It's a simple page and needs work, but you can at least
view the images. ...

Most of the poems I have written between 1983 and 2001. The larger part
of these are written in English, a few in Dutch. More will be added
when they become available.

This section contains some twenty years of travelogues and travel
photography. They cover my
trips to the Near and Middle East, India, China and the US East Coast.
They are currently only available in Dutch. Click on the pen to go to
the Travelogue page...
I
still haven't put up
the
remaining Mexico pictures the first odd 100 you can find here...
Neither
have I
added the remaining Durham ones, but I did scan a hundred odd images of
my trip to Syria and Jordan. You can have a peek at them here... The
Friesland ones can be found
here...
The Tales from the Middle Kingdom and Seven Days in Tibet travelogues
are now online in their entirety. You can find the story and the images
here...
The
Egyptian travelogue, in English, is still not finished, but you can
find the beginning here...
Some information on the ski resorts I've visited these past years has
been added. It concerns resorts in Italy and France. To go directly to
the ski resorts, click on the pen...
Around my birthday 2003, we spent a lovely week in France's Les
Menuires for
a bit of skiing. It had been a while for both of us, but we really
enjoyed it and hope to go again some time. I put up some of the many
pictures I took while we were there...

Between
1984 and 1991
I studied at Utrecht University, during those years I had close to a
dozen field trips and excursion. Browsing through my slides, I decided
to put up a few of these images and their related tales...

I
love history, and I
love playing games with an historical background, especially the
city-planing, country-running type. Through these games I've become
active on the Heaven Forums for Pharaoh (... ),
Caesar III
(... )
and recently, Zeus (... )
In the Caesar forum I took up a suggestion there to facilitate the
making of maps. It basically involves HTML tables and pictures, so if
you want to have a look, follow the pen...
Additionally
I've been asked
so many questions about sites with historical contents on the web, I
thought I'd add a page with historical links. Again just follow the
pen...

A friend of mine, by
the name of Yolanda, suggested me
recently to add my favourite recipes to my web site. There seem to be
quite a few people out there who enjoy my cooking, even though some of
my friends have only heard the rumours. They must hold some truth as
most of my dinner guests come back for more and other spontaneously
invite themselves for a trial dinner.
Maybe I'll add a fork, but for now, just follow the pen...

My Dad spent quite some time gathering information about our family
tree, and has revised it since I first put it up. There are now more
pictures of my early relatives as well. So far, he traced it back to
the early 18th Century, a marriage in 1711. I suggested to put the
results on the web and he accepted. So if you want to trace the surname
'van den Hurk', just follow the pen...
The layout of the genealogy section is a bit different from the rest of
the site, as most of it was created automatically by the genealogy
program he uses to store his data. More on this genealogy program can
be found in the genealogy section itself.

If anybody wants to know about me, my parents, my kid brother, my
girlfriend or any other of the not so sordid little details of my
life...
Just click on the pen...
For links to
some of my
friends websites and some other sites I fancy, follow the pen...
